St. Laurentii, Itzehoe edit

Schnitger organ case
Schnitger organ case

Created by Gerda Arendt (talk). Self-nominated at 10:20, 19 April 2017 (UTC).

  • Nice article - small but perfectly formed. It's long enough, new enough and reliably sourced. The hook is fine and is appropriately sourced. Prioryman (talk) 18:02, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Coming to promote this, I cannot find the hook fact in the article. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:06, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
  • What do you suggest to add to that he died over it? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:01, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
  • I was objecting to the "one of Arp Schnitger's last pipe organs" bit, the article does not say this. But really, the hook is also unsatisfactory because the present pipe organ dates from 1905, and its only the casing that's original. The altar is impressive, and you could use that as an image with an altogether different hook. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:30, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
  • The altar is "impressive" but was its maker one of the best in the field? I know that the pipes are mostly no longer there, that why the hook says "had". - I think it's safe to say "one of the last" if he died over it, but we could also drop the bit, just saying it had an Arp Schnitger organ. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:35, 3 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for trying, but please find a way to not say "only" because I understand some pipes were restored, and to get the church link first. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:12, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
I am trying to move things along. If you don't care for ALT2 {which could have the picture of the church exterior) or ALT3, perhaps you could suggest your own. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:19, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Many towers were damaged by storms. Please look at the impressive list of Schnitger's works.
ALT4: ... that the organ (case pictured) of the Lutheran church St. Laurentii in Itzehoe was begun by Arp Schnitger who died over the work? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:35, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
"who died over the work" sounds as if he collapsed on top of it, but you could have "who died before its completion". Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:33, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Gerda Arendt: the image is so nice for this hook, but the review seems to have stalled. What's the verdict here? Yoninah (talk) 22:25, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
My English was not good enough to word it, no? I guess saying "begun" implies that he wasn't able to finish:
ALT5: ... that the organ (case pictured) of the Lutheran church St. Laurentii in Itzehoe was begun by Arp Schnitger? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:28, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Let's go for ALT5 then. Replacing the tick as per Prioryman's review. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:40, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Gerda Arendt: For those of us who don't know that he was one of Germany's greatest organ builders, ALT5 doesn't say much. IMO this review has stripped the hook down to bare details, and it is no longer hooky. I think you should add something to the hook/article about who he was. Also, if he died during its construction, it's obviously his last work. I prefer the original hook; perhaps you could source something in the article and we could use ALT0? Yoninah (talk) 09:12, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
  • The organ was begun in 1715 and he died in 1719; I don't think you can deduce from this that it was his last work. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:50, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Yoninah, it's not an article about him. It's something special about a church to have (had) an organ by him, period. Cwmhireath, it said "one of the last", not "his last". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:16, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
I understand. ALT0 is still the hookiest. Yoninah (talk) 15:16, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Tricky case. It was reviewed ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:26, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
OK. Cwmhiraeth and I edit 12 hours apart. Let's wait for her response. Yoninah (talk) 15:44, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
  • Well, ALT0 is not worded in a way I like, because Gerda wants the article's name to be near the beginning. However, looking at the history of this nomination, I see that it has largely been held up by my objections, so I will replace Prioryman's tick and we can move forward with ALT0.
