No, as per WP:DYKHOOK its acceptable.— Amkgp 💬 05:24, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
I skimmed that link, but am not sure what is being relied on by amkgp. But do think even if it is as the editor says acceptable, it will bring the readers eye away from the thrust of the hook, so is better as fedc says not linked. 2603:7000:2143:8500:6960:9DFE:CAD2:CC8E (talk) 19:11, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Unlinked the term "England" — Amkgp 💬 13:26, 20 January 2021 (UTC)

I notice there has been a lot of work put into the nominated article, and I feel bad that this review is still outstanding. ALT0 makes me wonder what is a "gentleman farmer" rather than being hooked into reading the biography. Unfortunately the article gentleman farmer only talks about the subject from an American perspective which further confuses me. ALT1 makes me want to read about Wesleyan Methodist rather than the person. I'd like to help if possible, but I am unsure if I am the right person to do a full review. Flibirigit (talk) 21:31, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for kindly alerting me to this nomination, Flibirigit. It's a longish article, so please bear with me while I take a good look through. I'll add a review shortly. Storye book (talk) 11:52, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
*ALT0a:... that Sidney Hill (pictured) began a new life in England as a farmer, adding stables to the estate, a dairy and Langford Bullock Palaces for his prized red scotch shorthorn cattle? Sources same as mentioned in ALT0

@Storye book: Please have a look at the new hooks above. — Amkgp 💬 12:56, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Thank you, Amkgp. I have taken my time reading the article through, and I'll do the review later today, I hope. Storye book (talk) 13:06, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

QPQ: Done.

Overall: Very interesting article. Thank you. Just a few minor issues: (1) The first para in the Philanthropic works section needs a citation at the end. (2) The word, "built" is used in the article for several different purposes (Hill built, architect built, builder built), which would be confusing to the reader. Please could you use different words, e.g. Hill founded/funded/paid for, architect designed, builder built)? (3) In spite of internet and WP definitions, in normal British usage a mausoleum in England is usually a walk-in job containing burials with or without a vault, whereas the grave in the photo is a monument-type gravestone with a burial vault. Please adjust the image caption? (4) For WP notability purposes, Hill was a philanthropist. I agree that from his point of view he was probably primarily a Welseyan and businessman, but we are looking at the reader's point of view here. Currently, the header tells us that this guy's most important point is his religion, and ALT0 and ALTa say he was just a rich farmer, whereas from the WP notability POV his philanthropy changed the landscape and society to an appreciable extent. Please could you put "philanthropist" at the beginning of his list of attributes in the header, and add "philanthropist" before his name in all the hooks? (5) For more impact, have you considered adding the inflation template to ALT1: £550 (equivalent to £55,987 in 2021)? If you disagree with any of the above issues, that's fine - please let us know so that we can find a way of getting this nom smoothly through the DYK process. (Note: I have added a dictionary definition of the British usage of "gentleman farmer" to that article, in response to the comment above). Storye book (talk) 13:57, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Storye book thanks for the in-depth suggestions. For (4) "philanthropist" is added in the hooks as suggested and (5) inflation info has been updated both in article and hooks. Striking ALT0a as the British usage of "gentleman farmer" has been updated. Will let you know after the remaining issues are resolved.— Amkgp 💬 15:36, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
  • for ALT0 and ALT1. Thank you, Amkgp, for resolving all the issues so promptly. I have access to the British Newspaper Archive, for what it's worth, so you get a green tick instead of a grey one. Good to go. Storye book (talk) 16:41, 9 February 2021 (UTC)
