Otter fishing edit

An otter retrieving a fish for its master, depicted in the Carta marina (1539).

Created by AshLin (talk). Self nominated at 14:59, 23 April 2014 (UTC).

  • The section on the technique used by Chinese fisherman is cited to a source that doesn't contain that information (I was unsure of the meaning of "on a share", so I checked). Bellemora (talk) 10:08, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Corrected ref. Please reconfirm & thanks for detecting/pointing out. My bad! That should have been "shore". Deleted it. :) AshLin (talk) 12:46, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you, I thought maybe the fisherman was on a shared boat. (I was only copy editing, but for the nomination checker: if you want to trust me, it is fine as regards point 3 of the article criteria that appear when you edit this section.) Bellemora (talk) 13:28, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
  • @Bellemora: QPQ Done, may please proceed with review. Any other issues to be addressed? AshLin (talk) 03:15, 27 April 2014 (UTC)
  • That picture looks more like a cat. An otter has a stout tail among other things. Shyamal (talk) 12:37, 24 April 2014 (UTC)
  • Oh, those medieval artists! Sigh! :) Ref 4 from University of Minnesota confirms it.AshLin (talk) 12:46, 24 April 2014 (UTC)

AshLin, I've checked everything in the criteria and it seems OK apart from the picture which doesn't display well at that size. Assuming the picture won't be used or that it will be substituted, I'll give the article a pass for DYK if I am allowed to do so (I've never contributed an article to DYK so I'm not sure if that disqualifies me; the rules aren't clear to me on that). Bellemora (talk) 09:27, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

  • I've discovered I am allowed, so have one. Belle (talk) 13:00, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Image - A promoter still has the option of using the image, or not. On my system, the image looks fine. The image is used in the article. The image is properly licensed as Public Domain, because it is a crop of the 2007 Commons Picture of the Year. I'm willing to give the image a green tick, and let the promoter decide whether or not to use it. — Maile (talk) 23:55, 7 May 2014 (UTC)
