Article promoted to GA status on 16 March 2015. Every paragraph is sourced. QPQ was performed. The only problem is that content of the hook is not cited to a reliable source within the article. In the article it states, "Shortly after, Osorkon IV and his dynasty vanished into obscurity", but no source is present to verify this. NORTH AMERICA1000 01:41, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

- Hi Calvin999: Per WP:WIADYK, section 3B, to qualify, "Each fact in the hook must be supported in the article by at least one inline citation to a reliable source, appearing no later than the end of the sentence(s) offering that fact" (underline emphasis mine). - Hello, I was summoned here, sorry for the delay. The source is at the end of the next sentence, but I dare to suggest a different hook. I mean, "vanished into obscurity" as a hook seems vague to me; Osorkon IV did not literally vanished into obscurity (obviously) and anyhow, he was not famous for that (he was not famous at all). I don't know... May I suggest something other, like "...Osorkon IV saved his kingdom with a dozen horses?" Khruner (talk) 18:23, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Hook ALT1 is close enough to what is in the article, has a citation but I have no access to this book. The horse gift is confirmed in From Slave to Pharaoh: The Black Experience of Ancient Egypt and Ancient Israel and Its Neighbors: Interaction and Counteraction but it indicates that this was at a trading post, rather than at the point of an immanent invasion. - @Fuebaey and Graeme Bartlett: Sorry for the delay. I can cite directly Kitchen's work (§ 336): "Finally, in 716BC Sargon II struck again at Philistia and towards Egypt. (...) The Assyrian cohorts were now but 120 miles away from Tanis itself (...) Osorkon IV found it politic to buy off his dangerous new neighbor with a handsome present: Shilkanni, King of Egypt, a remote place..." etc (i.e. Sargon's speech already mentioned in your first link above). Story reprised in Grimal (1992, pp.342-3); Wilkinson (pp.399-400) is more laconic, simply stating that Osorkon IV sent "a lavish diplomatic gift to the ruler of Assyria when he unespectedly turned up on Egypt's northeast frontier with a large army in low."
