Osman Çakmak

  • ... that Osman Çakmak, a former professional footballer, who got amputated, enjoyed European Amputee Football Championship titles as player in 2017 and as manager in 2021 with the Turkey national team? Source: "Zeytinburnuspor formasıyla profesyonelliğe ilk adımını atan Osman Çakmak", "... sol bacağını diz altından kaybederek" (in Turkish) [1], "2017 Avrupa Ampute Futbol Federasyonu (EAFF) Avrupa Şampiyonası'nda şampiyon olan.." (in Turkish) [2], "Ampute Milli Takımı, finalinde İspanya'yı 6-0 mağlup ederek üst üste ikinci kez Avrupa Şampiyonu olurken Teknik Direktör Osman Çakmak açıklamalar yaptı..." (in Turkish) [3]

  • Comment The phrase "who got amputated" is odd. It's very strange to say "got amputated" without specifying which body part was amputated. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 11:56, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
  • @Dodger67: Thank you for your comment. How about the following? CeeGee 15:41, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
At 191 characters, the hook is pretty long and complicated. Perhaps shortened it a bit? The hook seems to have some redundant parts. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:08, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: Hooks can be as long as up to 200 chars. There must be no problem as you can know. I'd appreciate if you can form a hook as you like. CeeGee 11:30, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
I am citing WP:DYKHOOK here: While 200 is a hard limit, hooks near or at this limit may still be rejected at the discretion of reviewers and administrators. (emphasis mine) Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:51, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
Perhaps this can work? ALT2 ... that Osman Çakmak won the European Amputee Football Championship as player in 2017 and as manager in 2021 after a leg amputation? I'm not completely happy with this though as the hook mentions amputation twice (and this was also one of my issues with ALT1). Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:52, 10 October 2021 (UTC)
Thank you CeeGee for the proposal. It does bother me a bit though that we have articles for the yearly iterations but not for the tournament as a whole; perhaps one can be created so that it can be added to the nomination as well? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 09:46, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
@CeeGee: Thoughts on ALT3? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:55, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
  • Sorry! Can you make it a little bit more clear? CeeGee 10:23, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
@CeeGee: Would you be able to write an article for the European Amputee Football Championship and add it as a second bolded link for ALT3? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:45, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
  • An article with this title was moved or deleted previously. I don't why? I can try it later on because I am working on an article now. . However, I do not think that this is necessary for the approval of this nomination. CeeGee 11:11, 12 October 2021 (UTC)
  • My impression is that you are trying to make up excuses to prevent or delay the approval. CeeGee 10:02, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
I have no idea where that impression came from. It was merely a suggestion, and the hook and nomination can be approved even without said article being created. I just found it strange that there were articles for the yearly iterations and not one for the tournament as a whole and was wondering if that could be addressed. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:23, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
  • @CeeGee:, Narutolovehinata5 is trying to help you make your nomination the best it can be—I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. As far as I can see, the article hasn't been checked anyways, so the delay is nominal, really. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 02:43, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
  • Given that the nomination has been stuck for a while, we'll probably need to hear from CeeGee on final confirmation if they would be able to create an article for the tournament or not (note that a draft already exists at Draft:European Amputee Football Championship). That way, we can be sure if an article on the championship can run either as part of this hook or as a separate nomination. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:25, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
  •  Done Draft needs to be moved to main space. CeeGee 13:09, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
  • CeeGee 10:41, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
I checked the draft and the length doesn't seem to be long enough to qualify for DYK yet? Could it be expanded further? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:16, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
  • I said I expect that another reviewer takes over. Because I have enough of your unabating requests. You always fabricate something but not focus on the review acoording to the criteria listed above. CeeGee 09:03, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
As Leeky said, I'm trying to help you here. I'm not trying to stall the nomination. I just need a hard answer on if you can create/expand an article on the tournament so it could be added to the hooks as a second bolded link. Anyway, I just took a second look at the article, and while the article is long enough and new enough, it is in need of copyediting before it can be passed (regardless of the status of the article on the tournament itself). Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:38, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
  • It took just one month to say that the article needs a copy editing. CeeGee 09:36, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
  • @Narutolovehinata5: The requested copy editing is complete. Check it please. Hopefully, you don't find any other issue. CeeGee 16:48, 30 October 2021 (UTC)
I still see some minor issues (such as a space before a comma in one spot), and the "Honours" section is completely unreferenced. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 12:16, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
  •  Done More issues? CeeGee 13:52, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
Other than the question of whether or not you can be able to move the Draft to Mainspace and expand it to DYK standard, this is good to go since a QPQ has been done and I'm assuming good faith for the Turkish sources. If an article can't be made for the tournament at this time, it's okay, it can be saved later for a nomination of its own. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 06:50, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
  • I am now certain that your primary intention is to delay the approval, and to make only conversation. I am done. The game is over. CeeGee 09:14, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
I really don't understand what your point is here CeeGee. I already said multiple times that I'm just waiting for a simple yes or no from you if you can create an article for the tournament and bring it to DYK, and I would approve the nomination regardless of your answer. And I'm going to be frank here, but your assumption of good faith in this nomination has been lacking and I am stunned that an experienced DYK editor like you is making such assumptions about the motivations of reviewers. I would suggest you try to improve that attitude of yours if you don't want your other nominations to turn out similarly, because I would not be surprised if other editors develop reservations about reviewing your nominations moving forward if this attitude persists. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 10:17, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
  • It's your attitude to be judged, and not mine. Because, you fabricate issues continously. What does your suggestion to create or improve any other artcile and to nominate it for DYK to do with this review? Just talking and talking, but avoiding to come to an end. I have no time any more for this. CeeGee 11:04, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
I really don't understand why you are accusing me of "fabricating issues". All I was asking if you could write an article for the tournament, since I found it strange that we had articles for the player and the yearly iterations but not for the tournament as a whole. Technically the article didn't have to be made for the nomination to pass, I just found it strange that no article for the tournament itself existed. If you had just said several days ago that you wouldn't be able to make one that would meet DYK standards, I would have approved the nomination then and there. In any case, given that this discussion is getting heated, I will be deferring final approval to another editor: perhaps Theleekycauldron or or Dodger67 can take a second look? Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 11:39, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
CeeGee, I gotta say, I'm also a little shocked at your unprofessionalism in this thread. To phrase this in the nicest possible way, the idea that Narutolovehinata5 has a vendetta against your nomination would imply that they care enough about you or this nomination to make some kind of futile gesture, which they don't. NLH does dozens of these reviews every month; they had no reason to act maliciously, which is why they didn't. You've been around DYK for longer than i've known how to use a keyboard; you have to know that reviews can take a long time—sometimes for good reasons, sometimes not so much, but it's not because anyone here has a vested interest in preventing Osman Çakmak's article from its 24 hours of mild fame. Date and length fine, article is sourced (AGF) and neutral, hook is cited. Here's your tick. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (they/them) 15:28, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
