Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems

Hook eligibility:

  • Cited: No - ?
  • Interesting: Yes
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Article created from a redirect on December 10th, therefore new enough. It has passed tge good article nomination process, and meets requirements for being sourced and neutral. No copyright violations detected. The Earwig tool highlights directly attributed quotes, which are not violations. I am looking into the hooks and will update the review shortly. Flibirigit (talk) 21:55, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

I notice there is an eligible photo of Cristina Vee that could be used to illustrate this hook, since it is freely licensed. Flowerpiep, would you like to add it to the nomination? Flibirigit (talk) 15:35, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: Definitely! Still, I am not quite sure how to add the image to the nomination at this point. Flowerpiep (talk) 15:54, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep
I added the photo above, incase it's used in a hook. Flibirigit (talk) 16:15, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for adding it! Flowerpiep (talk) 16:43, 16 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep
You're welcome. Please let me know when the GA review finishes. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 04:32, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Comment: it is not necessary for this to be put on hold while the GA review is ongoing. DYK and GAN are two separate processes, and operate independently (and sometimes in parallel). BlueMoonset (talk) 15:26, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Nevertheless, the GA review has just finished. Flowerpiep (talk) 20:54, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep
Great, thanks. Will finish the review later today. Flibirigit (talk) 20:58, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Hooks review

For ALT2 and ALT3, I notice the citation is a 28-minute video. Do you recall at time in the video we can hear the mentions?

ALT0 and ALT1 are verified as per below:

English translation

I've been a fan of superheroes since I was young, I read everything that comes out and I watch everything that's been on TV for years. I was working on a production a few years ago and a young girl joined the team. As usual in animation studios, we laughed while exchanging post-it notes with small drawings. And as this girl came with a flocked t-shirt of a ladybug, I had fun representing her as a ladybug superhero. I thought the character worked well and I did not remember the existence of a superhero whose animal totem was the ladybug. I built a whole world around it with hundreds of heroes, a long story full of events, rules of operation, superpowers, etc. I've been thinking about a new universe of superheroes in the 21st century, compared to Marvel, which is a bit more dated.

Flowerpiep would you like to reword either ALT0 or ALT1 to include something like "voiced by Cristina Vee (pictured)"? Flibirigit (talk) 00:11, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: Sure, I added "voiced by Cristina Vee (pictured)" to both hooks (now, ALT0 and ALT1 are pretty much the same). Regarding ALT2 and ALT3, what is stated in ALT2 can be heard around 7:56, and what is mentioned in ALT3 appears around 19:03. Flowerpiep (talk) 15:42, 18 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep

Okay great, will watch the video later today. Flibirigit (talk) 17:41, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

ALT0 and ALT1 verified as per the french translations above. ALT2 and ALT3 verified as per the video clip and times mentioned above. Congratulations on the GA promotion as well! Flibirigit (talk) 18:40, 18 January 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: Thank you! Flowerpiep (talk) 19:09, 18 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep
  • Hi, I came by to promote ALT0, but from the article and source, it seems the character was inspired by the woman wearing the tee shirt, not the woman herself. Yoninah (talk) 22:39, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
Flowerpiep would you like to amend the hook slightly? Flibirigit (talk) 23:09, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Sure, I have changed ALT0. Flowerpiep (talk) 16:40, 20 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep
@Yoninah: Hello! I have changed ALT0 to a version which highlights that the woman was wearing a ladybug-themed shirt. Still, the woman herself actually served as inspiration since Astruc depicted her as a ladybug-themed superhero first instead of creating a random ladybug-inspired superhero character. Also, the woman's actual hairstyle from that time inspired Marinette's haircut (both when she is depicted as a civilian and as a superhero since it is the same haircut). Nevertheless, I understand what you mean since the woman served as inspiration only after she had worn a ladybug-themed shirt and after she had subsequently been depicted as a superhero in a drawing; because of this, her actual self was indeed not exactly used as an inspiration (except for her hairstyle). • @Flowerpiep: thank you. But rereading the article, I think you're trying to pack too much into the hook, since Christine Gee voices the English version and someone else voices the French version, and shortening the name of the series seems to be appealing only to readers who are familiar with the series. We also don't mention people who don't have Wikipedia articles on the main page. What do you think about this phrasing:
  • ALT0b: ... that the superhero form of Marinette Dupain-Cheng was based on a young woman wearing a ladybug-themed T-shirt who once worked with the creator of the animated television series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir? Yoninah (talk) 18:25, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
@Yoninah: I see. Regarding this hook, I think it is good! Flowerpiep (talk) 20:15, 20 January 2019 (UTC)Flowerpiep
  • Thank you. Restoring tick for ALT0b. Rest of review per Flibirigit. Yoninah (talk) 20:29, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
