• Since the original review, Charlton's record has been broken.[1] The article appears to have had appropriate updates made but a new hook will be needed to match the updated facts. --Allen3 ^talk 08:43, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

• Good point; how about:

• ALT1 ...that when this DYK was nominated, Bobby Charlton had scored more international goals than any other English footballer?
• ALT2 ...that until recently, Bobby Charlton had scored more international goals than any other English footballer?
• ALT3 ...that Bobby Charlton has scored more international goals than any English footballer other than Wayne Rooney?

RE: ALT3 and ALT4: It sounds awkward to say "DYK ...that ABC more than anyone other than XYZ". Better would be to say "DYK ...that apart from XYZ, ABC more than anyone". ALT2 isn't bad as it stands. Maybe one of these next two would work better?

• ALT5 ...that Wayne Rooney deliberately overcame Bobby Charlton's international goal record in order to spite Wikipedia's User:Harrias whose DYK hook had already been approved?
• ALT6 ...that Bobby Charlton held the record for English international goals from May 1968 until just a few days ago?

• ALT2 or ALT6. Tick based primarily on previous review by Cas Liber. ALT1 and ALT5 conflict with MOS:SELFREF. ALT3 and ALT4 technically not supported by the article, there could be a conspiracy against this nom and other players might have broken Charlton's record since the article was last updated. --Allen3 ^talk 00:30, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
