Jordan Adams edit

Created by Bagumba (talk). Self nominated at 23:23, 13 February 2014 (UTC).

  • The article is long enough, new enough and was nominated in time. QPQ is done, and the article has inline citations - spotchecks shows no signs of close paraphrasing. I'm though a little uncertain about the hook - the FN3 states that "He became the first Bruins freshman to score 20 or more points in his first four games.", while the article states that "... he was the first UCLA freshman..." As far as I know, there are freshmens in other teams aswell? Could this be elaborated in the article, so that it states he was the first Bruins freshman? I'd also suggest unlinking college basketball, freshman and point (basketball) in the hook - we want the readers to click on the bolded article, and those other links are "distracting". • The team name is UCLA Bruins, and they can alternatively be referred to simply as "UCLA" or "Bruins" once the context is established that "UCLA Bruins" is the subject. "UCLA freshman" or "Bruins freshman" would be synonymous. When you say "there are freshmens in other teams aswell?" are you referring to freshman from other schools that are not UCLA, or other freshman at UCLA? As for the links, doesn't the bold link make the main article standout? I don't think WP:OVERLINK applies to the others, as many may not be familiar with the terms, but I can remove them if you insist.—Bagumba (talk) 17:09, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
  • @Mentoz86: Appreciate a response, or can someone else help review? Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 21:58, 21 February 2014 (UTC)
  • @Bagumba: - pinging in Template-namespace isn't working, if you are in a hurry I advice you to leave a message on someone's talk-page. To return to the review, for some reason I misinterpretated UCLA to be the name of the league, but thanks for explaining it to me ;) Yes, this hook is one of the worst cases of WP:OVERLINKING I've seen, and I would probably have removed the links from the hook (not the article) if it was up to me. But that isn't a requirement for DYK, so this nomination is good to go, but my suggestion to the promoter is to review the amount of links in this hook and maybe remove those three mentioned above. If this hook hits the main page with all these five links, I suggest that the nominator look at the page-view stats for the other four articles and compare them with the bolded link.
