Indonesian communist exiles in Tirana edit

Created by Soman (talk). Self nominated at 16:58, 13 May 2014 (UTC).

  • First of all, I'll say that the article is new enough and is clearly long enough. I have read the article, and it is written neutrally, cites plenty of sources and does not appear to have any copyright violations that I can see. The main issue with the nomination at this time really has to do with the hook. As of this revision, two cites are used to support the hook's assertion, 3 and 4. First for the No. 3 reference, while it does mention some pro-communist activity in Tirana, it doesn't call the capital a "hub" for such activity, and the No. 4 reference doesn't mention Tirana in the prose, only to a congress delegation in 1966. So as of now, the references used don't support the hook's claim, instead falling under the realm of synthesis. I would recommend rewriting the hook, or using a different one entirely that is clearly supported by an inline reference.-- 05:23, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
  • Ref 3 says ""However, it was not China but Albania which became the official seat of PKI activity in the diaspora". It doesn't use the word 'hub', but it is a rewording on my behalf, a rewording that is within the limits and necessary to avoid close paraphrasing. No. 4 is used to add the detail that the congress was the 5th party congress of PLA. --Soman (talk) 07:03, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
  • That's still not exactly what the hook is saying. The reference says "Albania...became the official seat of PKI activity", not its capital city. I realize that reference 3 goes on to mention Tirana in the footnote at the bottom of page 390, but in no place does it say that Tirana was the center of such activity. For all we know, there was another place in Albania that had such activity and is simply not mentioned. This is what I meant by synthesis. So, I think if you just rewrite the hook to say that "Albania became one of the main hubs...", that would be sufficient.-- 09:06, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
  • For me it would be fine to exchange 'Tirana' for 'Albania' in the hook, it makes no signifcant difference. In the references I've gone through, only Tirana is mentioned, however, no other Albanian localities appear anywhere. --Soman (talk) 09:29, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
  • That's probably not all that surprising since it's both its capital and largest city, although I also kind of find it hard to believe that this was only happening in Tirana. But regardless, we have to go with what the reference (No. 3) says, and it doesn't explicitly state that Tirana was the center of the activity in Albania, just that there was a lot of activity there.-- 09:36, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
  • The comment above stated "The main issue with the nomination at this time really has to do with the hook", the hook was adressed, so I'm not sure what the "issues unaddressed" would refer to? --Soman (talk) 19:03, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
  • The ALT 1 hook now passes per what I mentioned above. Good work.-- 20:21, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
