        • I'm not checking sources until you quote me the text that supports the hook or tell me which table mentions November Nine final table at the 2012 World Series of Poker even though he only had 50,000 chips. Where is this found in the article? --LauraHale (talk) 02:52, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

          • For the 50k, you have to notice the typo in "After all was said and done, Gonzalez had doubled to 3 million while Meson was left with just 50,000.             • Maybe this is because I do NOT understand poker winnings at all. Can you quote the article where it supports the hook? I just cannot find it. I'm honestly not trying to be difficult.   • I'll take over. For a start, ALT1 is sufficiently referenced, and every single statement is mentioned in the article. But while I do like the message in ALT1, I think the wording could be improved. Even knowing something about poker, I misread the hook in a way as if Merson was to play the final table with 50,000 chips, not that this beating happened 2 days earlier and he had long recovered. Why not simply:
    • ALT2: ... that Gregory Merson made the final table of the 2012 World Series of Poker main event even though he was down to 2½ big blinds at one time? --Pgallert (talk) 15:08, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
      • I think ALT2 is a lot harder for the average reader to WP:V than ALT1.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 16:06, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
        • Anyway, all three hooks are verified and occur in the article. I also checked length, date, and plagiarism again. Personally I find the original hook not very exciting, and ALT1 too bumpy, but maybe the closer wants to make a call. It's about poker, after all. --Pgallert (talk) 19:08, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
