Great Northern Highway edit

  • ALT1:... that the Great Northern Highway is the longest highway in Australia, covering a distance of almost 3,200 kilometres?
  • Reviewed: Not a self-nomination

Improved to Good Article status by Evad37 (talk). Nominated by Oceanh (talk) at 14:21, 16 August 2014 (UTC).

Note that the word "the" should not precede the name "Great Northern Highway" for consistency with the article. It is not part of the highway's name per sources in the article, and is not used in similar FA-class articles such as Great Eastern Highway. Previous discussion on this issue has occurred at Talk:Great_Eastern_Highway#Article, and there have previously been comments regarding the issue at WP:HWY A-Class Reviews (eg Mitchell Freeway ACR – Review by Fredddie – comment #2). Therefore, I propose ALT4, ALT5, or ALT6 below be used instead. - Evad37 [talk] 11:01, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

  • Good to go for ALT4. The hook is verified by a reliable source from the Australian government. The article was promoted to Good article status on August 16, 2014, which is the same day this article was nominated for DYK (GA status was within seven days of this nomination). Spot checks for copyvio reveals no problems. NorthAmerica1000 02:16, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
