George G. Eitel edit

Eitel c. 1914

Source: "It was also reported that he and another surgeon in Minneapolis with from two to five nurses were shot at sunrise at Fort Snelling." (The Medical Fortnightly) and "Eitel, the founder of the private Eitel Hospital and a vice president of Dight's eugenics society, performed the first 150 surgeries..." (Minnesota History)

  • ALT1 ... that surgeon George G. Eitel (pictured) was falsely rumored to be in a federal penitentiary, shot, a suicide, and an experimenter with poison hypodermics on enlisted men?

Source: same as above

  • @SusanLesch: This article is new enough and long enough. The image is in the public domain, the article is neutral and Earwig failed to identify anything amiss. The hook facts are basically accurate but I would like to change "eugenicist" to "surgeon". The article provides no evidence that he was active in eugenics at the beginning of WW1 and the rumours seem to have emanated from his German origins. The ALT2 hook is unremarkable as written because anyone can have a voluntary sterilisation, in order to have no more children for example. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:39, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Cwmhiraeth, you are right the rumors arose from him being of German ancestry. I changed some hooks to "surgeon" and one to "eugenicist" above in hopes that is an improvement. -SusanLesch (talk) 13:49, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
  • All three hooks are now satisfactory although I prefer ALT0 and ALT1. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:55, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
