Children of Israel Cemetery

  • ... that following decades of repairs due to vandalism and falling headstones in the Children of Israel Cemetery in Winnipeg, Canada, maintenance is now limited to "mowing the grass"? Source: "Twenty years ago, after a large number of gravestones had been knocked over by weather and vandals, officials of Shaarey Zedek Synagogue met with seven descendants...and a legal transaction was made to transfer the responsibility to the synagogue." (The Jewish Post; "(Note: CSZ also administers the Children of Israel cemetery in Transcona but the costs of doing so are minimal and limited to mowing the grass)" Building a New Shul–An Interim Report from the Kehilla Committee)
