Carlton Intercontinental Hotel

  • Comment: Please could the number of days previously when this goes on the MP be updated, so 'last month' changed to 'eleven days ago' please? Thanks

Comment by nominator: I am away for a few days until Wednesday 14 August, so please be patient, I will not reply until then. Thanks, Matty.007 14:48, 9 August 2013 (UTC)

Could not access some online sources, but details are adequate for now, and sources are reliable. I am unsure about the hook, even when well-verified. Perhaps rephrase the original hook, or create an alternative one, like the film reference. "Last month" should be replaced by "in July 2013". Also, there could be a major update in the future, so ITN nomination should be recommended. --George Ho (talk) 17:16, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Almost forgot: I copyedited the article, so I hope it doesn't affect my review. --George Ho (talk) 17:17, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Would it be possible to combine this nomination with Template:Did you know nominations/Milan Poparic and create a double hook? That would be most effective. By the way, "French history" should either be changed to "French history" or left unlinked. Surtsicna (talk) 19:04, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Using that as a hook would attract concerns of BLP violations. In this case, this is a multi-million dollar crime, and I wonder if making that person a suspect would help matters. However, I wouldn't try to attract these articles by using the "likely suspect" hook. --George Ho (talk) 02:15, 11 August 2013 (UTC) If you want to still use likely suspects, I recommend to avoid names. --George Ho (talk) 02:18, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
OK, here is an alt: Alt 1:that $136 million was stolen at the Carlton Intercontinental Hotel heist in August 2013? Matty.007 12:06, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

How about ALT1a: ... that jewels stolen at the Carlton Cannes (pictured) in the July 2013 heist are worth $136 million? --George Ho (talk) 14:00, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

OK, thanks for the alt, George Ho, sounds good. Matty.007 14:25, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
I changed August to July in the Alt, correct month. Matty.007 14:27, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
Renamed to 2013 Carlton Cannes heist. If you have problems, then request move revert at WP:RM/TR. --George Ho (talk) 00:47, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Renaming is fine: George Ho: is the hook (Alt1a) OK to go now? Thanks, Matty.007 07:09, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
Under WP:DYKSG or WP:DYK rules, I cannot approve my own hook, especially a hook that I rephrased for you. --George Ho (talk) 15:35, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
George Ho: is the original hook useable? Matty.007 21:25, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
We'll leave that to another reviewer then. --George Ho (talk) 21:31, 15 August 2013 (UTC)
  • Need another reviewer to check the original and ALT hooks, and anything else they feel necessary to complete the review. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:18, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure what has already been checked, so will start afresh -
  • Article - created new on day of nomination 7 August, so new enough; 1876 characters of readable prose, so long enough; neutral; at least one inline citation to every paragraph; no copy vios detected using earwig/duplication detector (by the way, the Japan Times article is coming up as expired and I'm not managing to catch it on Wayback either but I guess people could access the hard copy if required); and assessed as start class so not a stub.
  • Hook ALT1a - within length criteria at 98 characters including (pictured); correctly formatted; correctly cited/supported by ref #3 in 'lead' section; and interesting enough. I have struck the other hooks for clarity;
  • QPQ done; image license is CC-SA-2.5.

Seems fine. SagaciousPhil - Chat 10:45, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
