Almone edit

  • ... that the ancient Romans used to bathe a sacred stone in the waters of the Almone on March 27? Source: "the goddess [in the form of an effigy, the famous sacred stone] was carried in procession from her temple on the Palatine through the city to the Almo river, where she and the sacrificial instruments underwent ritual washing and purification (Lavatio, 27 March)." (Iara)
    • ALT1:... that the Almone lent its name to a warrior in Virgil's Aeneid? Source: "Almo and Galaesus, the first casualties of the war, are rivers, the Almo a tributary of the Tiber..." (Perkell)

  • New enough and long enough. AGF on foreign language/offline sources (linked Google Books page was not accessible to me) - although I managed to struggle through the Italian source Scheda: il fiume Almone e il culto della Magna Mater, which seems OK based purely on my knowledge of Spanish(!) No close paraphrasing evident, and supports both hooks. Images properly licensed. Very interesting article, well done. I prefer the first hook.
