Many of the sources listed are superfluous, and of the three that are actually cited, they are cited erroneously. There is no such academic consensus on a "Zutt" origin for Marsh Arabs, nor is there a substantial genetic link. The article refers to them as "inferior stock". Likewise, a editor of this page uses the name "Doing the Needful", which itself draws on anti-Indian stereotypes. Of course,that is relevant as this article only exists as a way of demeaning a minority within southern Iraq by claiming them to be outsiders from India. I add information proving that Marsh Arab are pure Arab with a scientific citation. But this "DoingTheNeedfull" guy keeps deleting it. He's clearly a troll with racist motivations. Ya'rub98M (talk) 21:35, 8 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

The event happened, yes. We have chroniclers like Al-Tabari who mentioned what happened after the Zutt were defeated and deported to the Roman border (they were taken as captives to Constantinople). Al-Tabari also transmits the "Taunt of the Zutt" by one of their poets, as they were being deported.

As for the Marsh Arabs being Zutt? That's probably not true. The only evidence of the Zutt that exist in lower Iraq today is the Abu al-Khaseeb district (named after a Zutt client-general of the Abbasids).

The modern descendants of the Zutt would be in their homeland, now in Pakistan. Not Iraq. OperativePhase9450 (talk) 21:43, 14 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
