Zoltan Marton Varga was born 03.03.1967 in Düren, Germany.
He grew up in Lörrach, Grenzach-Wyhlen, and Rheinfelden-Herten, Germanz. He studied in Basel Switzerland between 1986-1990, and obtained his PhD in Neurobiology Cell Biology in 1995. He undertook his Post-doctoral studies in Eugene, Oregon between 1995-1999, then started his own laboratorz as Assistant Professor in Freiburg, Germany. In 2004, he returned to Eugene, OR and is now Director of the Zebrafish International Resource Center.
