Separation from "Zechariah (given name)"
editKeeping Zakariya separate from Zechariah (given name) and Zacharias (surname) has some advantages (cultural homogeneity, avoiding overcrowdedness), but also the serious disadvantage of separating East from West. It can become a dilemma for some when dealing with somebody like Zakaria Botros, a Christian (Coptic) priest from Egypt: I found him on the "Zechariah (given name)" page, with all the other Christians and Jews, but the name is of the Arabic variety.
