Page name

Why was this page moved from Zaira (opera) to Zaira (Bellini)? The edit summary says: "There exist different operas titled Zaira" — which ones? Also: The Wikiproject Opera's guidelines are quite clear against such a move. I suggest Jeanambr (talk · contribs) revert this move. Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:18, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

There do exist other Zaira operas by Peter Winter, Saverio Mercadante and Antonio Caldara, But apart from the Mercadante, there is very little information about them and the Bellini Opera is the better known of the lot. None of the other operas have articles. However, this move was contrary to the guidelines used by the Opera Project, e.g. Otello for the Verdi opera, and the first article written (2002) and the better known opera, and Otello (Rossini) for the one by Rossini written (2005). It also messed up the template. I'm not sure what User:Jeanambr did, but it was producing a double redirect on this page. I've sort of fixed it, but not completely. It's a real mess. Jeanambr, in future please do not move long-established pages without first discussing it with other editors on the talk page and preferably also at the Opera Project. For now, I'm not going to revert the move because I'm afraid of making even more of a mess. Since this applies to the general guidlines about ariticle naming at the Opera Project, I suggest continuing the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Opera. • Update. I've solved the problem of the template. Jeanambr had failed to refresh the Zaira (Bellini) page so it was producing a double re-direct. Likewise, the template in all the other Bellini opera articles was linking to a redirect. I've now gone through and refreshed them all, so at least that problem is solved. But this page move was contrary to long established naming conventions for operas and I am very inclined to revert it, especially since it was done with no prior discussion whatsoever.
