Corporation websites edit

Corporation websites are not a reasonable source to use on this page. A corporation's website is a self-published source with respect to itself, and should therefore not be used for material that is self-serving; details of certification from WRAP are certainly in this category. If the information is worth including, then an independent source has likely commented on it somewhere. Vanamonde (Talk) 01:06, 4 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Glasstree imprint is, in fact, a self-publishing platform for academic textbooks. Due to the lengthy writing-review-publishing cycle of traditional textbook publishers, standard textbooks are already 2 - 3 years out of date before publication, if traditional legacy publishers are used. Glasstree imprint offers the opportunity to publish up-to-the-minute content, and offers a print-on-demand option to reduce environmental footprint.
My textbook, Textile Value Chain Marketing, is used in multiple university courses, including by professors other than myself. As a professor widely recognized as a textile and apparel supply chain expert by industry professionals, I take great care to ensure my textbook content is accurate, up to date, and impartial. In light of your concern, I would be delighted to learn more about your hesitation with my textbook as a legitimate source.
I appreciate at one level the concern with traditional publishers, but that's rather besides the point. Wikipedia has well-established policies on reliable sources, and self-published textbooks are a big red flag. Further, I had not realized that you were the author of the book in question. Unfortunately, this means you have a rather large conflict of interest with respect to that textbook and the content within; and you really should not be editing this article directly. Please familiarize yourself with our expectations of editors with conflicts of interest before editing this topic further. Best, Vanamonde (Talk) 21:46, 9 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
