Since there were no counter-arguments to the merger proposal after several months, I proceeded with the merger and moved/edited relevant content from the previous "Malaria Awareness Day" page here. Since that page had focused on (old) events in the United States, I hope the new structure will incite more contributions from around the world for global and timely perspectives.
