Hello, I am planning on reviewing this article for GA Status, over the next couple of days. Thank you for nominating the article for GA status. I hope I will learn some new information, and that my feedback is helpful.

If nominators or editors could refrain from updating the particular section that I am updating until it is complete, I would appreciate it to remove a edit conflict. Please address concerns in the section that has been completed above (If I've raised concerns up to references, feel free to comment on things like the lede.)

I generally provide an overview of things I read through the article on a first glance. Then do a thorough sweep of the article after the feedback is addressed. After this, I will present the pass/failure. I may use strikethrough tags when concerns are met. Even if something is obvious why my concern is met, please leave a message as courtesy.

Best of luck! you can also use the {{done}} tag to state when something is addressed. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs)

Please let me know after the review is done, if you were happy with the review! Obviously this is regarding the article's quality, however, I want to be happy and civil to all, so let me know if I have done a good job, regardless of the article's outcome.

Lede edit

  • Timeline probably needs a better introduction as it says "was" but doesn't get into much detail about why they no longer run events Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:05, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm looking at sources again to see if the body text can be expanded, which would make adding to the lead easier. British Newspaper Archive has 181 hits for "Women's Billiards Association" from 1930 to 1939; 10 from 1940 to 1949; 10 from 1950 to 1959 (mostly passing mentions); 2 passing mentions from 1960 to 1969, and 1 mention in a reader's letter in 1991. So there's not much in the way of press coverage to help with the later years. I'll have a browse through books and The Billiard Player again. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 22:37, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I've added to the lead, but I couldn't find anything else of substance to add to the body. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 00:10, 16 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

General edit

  • Other council members appointed included Mrs Eddowes, runner-up in the previous year's amateur championship, Thelma Carpenter, - I'm assuming Billiards, but we've stated that and snooker. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Childe-Pemberton.[1][2][3][4 - overref, try bundling. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Some interesting capatalisation here, Snooker and Billiards in the infobox, "Circle" in the body etc. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • , inter-club competitions, and regional competitions.[9 - repetition of competition. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • and Bournemouth.[15][13] - reforder. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Billiard Player is probably notable. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • BA&CC had "no desire to interfere" in the running of the woman's game.[20][21] In 1935, the WBA affiliated to the BA&CC,[22] and on 10 June 1936, the Billiards Association and Control Council agreed to take over management of the WBA. - this is quite quick - is there no more info? Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 16:19, 15 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • I've added that it was at the WBA's request. Couldn't find out any background about why they asked. Looks like Carpenter probably played a role; apart from her resignation, she complained in her column in The Billiard Player about the close association between the billiard trade and the WBA, but without naming names.
