  • This is a little tricky because he did basically everything from journalism to children's literature. I moved the explanation from later in the lead; new wording is

    Wolfdietrich Schnurre (22 August 1920 – 9 June 1989) was a German writer. Best known for his short stories, he also wrote tales, diaries, poems, radio plays, and children's books.

• His other major works include Als Vaters Bart noch rot war [de] (When father's beard was still red) and Als Vater sich den Bart abnahm (When father shaved his beard off), two collections of politically-charged short stories focusing on the experiences of the narrator and his father during the early 20th century in lower-class Berlin; Der Schattenfotograf (The shadow photographer), a collection of various texts, and Ein Unglücksfall (A misfortune, An accident), his only novel. - this is a long sentence, and doesn't really explain what each piece is. General

  • I know it's somewhat awkward, but there is not really a wording I can think of that doesn't lack precision. Sources generally use wording like this; my worry is that "lower-middle class" would take away the sense that it was a "proletarian" upbringing, which is a fairly important factor in his biography, while "lower class" would be somewhat disingenuous given that his father ran a library and held a PhD. I can just stick to one or the other if you think it has to go, but I think it's more or less "justifiable" awkwardness(?). --Blablubbs (talk) 12:05, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
