Codename

edit

Windows Mobile 6 is "Crossbow". Photon is a different OS, that unites Smarphone and PocketPC editions. It may also be based on CE 6, though. --soumসৌমোyasch 23:01, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It seems that Windows Mobile 6.0 IS called Photon ! "Crossbow" is said to be Windows Mobile 5 SE due for release BEFORE 6.0/Photon. Check out this link : [1]. JD 2 July 2006

Aww crap. I only just bought my first PocketPC a month ago, a Dell Axim x51v! It's top of the line at the moment but soon it's gonna be superceded :-( Timeshift 05:32, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not anytime soon, CE 6.0 products likely won't hit the shelves before early 2007. Also try and keep the discussion here on the actual article please. 81.154.251.229 18:20, 13 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kernel type

edit

The article calls Windows CE 6.0 kernel a hybrid kernel. This might just be a matter of definition (I haven't reviewed wikipedia's definitions in fine detail). However, I would call CE 6.0 kernel a monolithic kernel. Although the different components like filesystem, windowing (GWES), device driver have been turned into modules, they are all loaded and run in kernel space and can therefore walk over each other's memory (they should be careful not to, but it is possible). I think the 'hybrid' designation was true for CE versions <6.0 and maybe hasn't been updated.

Full source code

edit

No this is only full source code of the core kernel. Look at http://www.windowsfordevices.com/news/NS2632317407.html for more details. The article should be corrected

you are right. I corrected it.--92.226.207.159 (talk) 10:04, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
