Um...Wii Fit Channel..

Since Wii Fit is out in Japan shouldn`t the Wii Fit Channel article be moved to additional channels?

Yeah, I was about to do it, but does anyone know anything about it?69.121.100.81 15:58, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I edited it but we need a new source. The one from IGN is acceptable in my opinion. http://wii.ign.com/articles/838/838976p1.html69.121.100.81 16:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Nintendo Channel for All!

In the Holiday issue of Nintendo Power, they said a new Wii Channel the Nintendo Channel for All! would be released. The picture matched screenshots of the everybody's Nintendo Channel so I think the name should be changed. 69.121.100.81 22:15, 2 December 2007 (UTC)

Would it be possible that it was just an alternate translation of "Everybody's/Everyone's Nintendo Channel"? I think we should hold off renaming the section until it actually does get an official English name. Misterkillboy 14:39, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Achievement Board???

There was no source for the Achievement Board, so I deleted it. If anyone can find aa source I will be happy to put it back up.69.121.100.81 (talk) 16:19, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Photo 1.1

I might be reading it wrong, but the info for the new Photo Channel 1.1 suggests that once you are updated to 1.1 with AAC, you can't go back to MP3. However, if you go into the Wii settings and to the Channels page, and delete the 1.1 update, the Photo Channel will work as it used to. --LN3000 (talk) 03:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Sweet! Thanks! --LN3000 (talk) 07:47, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Check mii out channel time release

It was the 11th in the US, but if you want to use UTC, you must also use the date in Britain. [1] says 11th in the US, and we all agree it was released at 7:45 PM EST on whatever day, so that would be 12:45 AM UTC on the 12th. Smartyllama (talk) 17:48, 25 December 2007 (UTC)

You can't say it was the 12th, since technically it was available SOMEWHERE in the world on November 11th. --LN3000 (talk) 20:33, 25 December 2007 (UTC)
The way you worded it, no. The way it was worded before, you could, and not only that, you'd be right. Smartyllama (talk) 01:41, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

This discussion page is getting tooooooo long. Could someone put up a new page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.100.15 (talk) 22:55, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Percentage for Import games

I figured I should note that 20% increase is correct for most import except for SNES and Genesis that go from 800 to 900. That percentage is 12.5%. Is this important enough to put in the article? Neo Samus (talk) 20:31, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Wii Fit Channel

Wii Fit will be released on May 20, in North America, according to the Wii Fit article on Wikipedia, so it should be mentioned that the channel will be released in North America on May 20, 2008. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.102.73 (talk) 02:23, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Mii Channel Wifi

Why doesn't the "Mii Channel" section mention anything about the Mii Parade feature? --Is this fact...? 11:44, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

It already does. "Miis can interact with other Wii users by showing up on their Wii consoles through the WiiConnect24 feature or by talking with other Miis created by Wii owners all over the world. This feature is called Mii Parade." - X201 (talk) 13:53, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Wii Shop Channel

All the updates and other subjects for the Wii Shop Channel are in the Wii Shop channel article page. All this news will not be in the Wii Menu article. Versus22

The normal routine when deciding to delete half of the article is to discuss it first. - X201 (talk) 19:59, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Also, please remember when removing large chunks of text to put the reasoning in the edit summary - otherwise busy-bodies like myself will revert it, suspecting it to be vandalism. It is all well and good explaining it after the fact on each individuals talk page, but then you have to explain it to someone else afterwards, and then someone else after that and so on and so on and....
In summary - PLEASE use the edit summary, it saves a lot of explaining. StephenBuxton (talk) 12:17, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
I got that now, thanks! I have left the two main sections of the Wii Shop Channel on the Wii Menu page (Virtual Console & WiiWare). I am not sure if I should take them off since they already have their own articles... Versus22 (talk) 04:02, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
They should stay in the article as brief overviews of the subject with a link to the main article. The Virtual Console section is just fine but the WiiWare one is longer than the main article and needs some of that info moving to its own main article. - X201 (talk) 09:27, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Additional: I've just noticed that we've got two Virtual Console sections in the article. They need merging. - X201 (talk) 09:33, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Are you meaning 2 sections in this article (Wii Menu), or somewhere else? The Virtual Console section in the Wii Shop Channel article should stay... Versus22 (talk) 12:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Internet Channel widgets

The Internet Channel already supports widgets though you can only use one at a time. The article suggests widgets are a future feature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.18.240.159 (talk) 03:29, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Wii Menu Photo

Is it possible to get a photo with the Check Mii Out Channel, new Wii Shop Channel, and Photo Channel 1.1. The current photo is from July(?), can we get one with the updated channels? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.102.73 (talk) 13:16, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Download It Channel

Can someone confirm this? I haven't found anything on Google about this. I'm thinking that this channel is the same as the Everybody's Nintendo Channel, but I don't know.PastramiX (talk) 22:30, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

If Nintendo were to announce another new channel, it would be on pretty much every video game news site. If you have to go searching to try and find evidence of it, then it is almost certainly fake. -Zomic13 (talk) 01:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
It's most likely referring to the DS Download part of the Nintendo Channel--Oreichalcos (talk) 00:53, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Mario Kart Wii & iPlayer

There have been a couple of additions and deletions recently. Two new channels have been implemented or announced, and there's been no discussion about why they don't warrant a mention in the article. one comes with Mario Kart Wii and lets you see what's happening with friends and so on without inserting the game disc. This was described in a lot of detail, and then deleted. Another forthcoming channel (but in the UK only) is the BBC iPlayer channel, which lets those in the UK watch the past 7 days of BBC content via their broadband connection. Is there any reason these shouldn't be included? Tim (Xevious) (talk) 13:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

The BBC IPlayer one should be on there like the TV Channel for Japan A Candela (talk) 01:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

The Mario Kart Channel should be there, as it is a real channel. However, as far as my understand goes, the iPlayer isn't a channel but just a specialized Wii version of a website that is accessed via the Internet Channel (and thus has no relevance to the Wii Menu). -Zomic13 (talk) 05:24, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
The iPlayer is currently worked through the Internet Channel, but the BBC has stated it is working on a version which works independently of that, so it would be a channel in its own right. Tim (Xevious) (talk) 09:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Future Channels

Why did someone get rid of the "There are currently no known channels that are planned for release in the future." under Future Channels. It looks stupid with a heading but nothing under it. I thought for a moment it was saying that the Message Board was a future channel. I think we should put that line back or get rid of the Future Channels heading until there is a future channel to put underneath it.M4192 (talk) 23:10, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

BBC iPlayer

I have added this to the channel list including all information about how it works and how to get it, I have also added references. If any one wants to edit my grammer, spelling etc. or to add more information, please feel free to. :D

I didn't know there was a channel for the BBC iPlayer, I thought it just worked on the Wii through the Internet channel. Are you sure about this?

Rename "WiiWare" to "Wii Channels"?

Should we mention that the WiiWare section was renamed to "Wii Channels" after the March 20 update? In the Wii Shop's home page, there is still the WiiWare button with a Wii on it. However, when you select it, if you look at the top-left corner it says "Wii Channels".Mmark089 (talk) 06:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

No. I believe the only reason it says "Wii Channels" is because when WiiWare games finally launch, there will be subsections for WiiWare games and Wii Channels. Right now I think it is just bringing you to the Wii Channels section directly. -Zomic13 (talk)
On the Japanese version of the Wii Shop Channel at March 25, 2008, they made a separate section for the Wii Channels, and put all the WiiWare games in the WiiWare section. I don't know if this is going to be for all regions, and if it is, we should make a Wii Channels section in this article. Vernon (Versus22) (talk) 03:10, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

TV remote adaptation

Currently, in the TV Guide Channel, it states: "Additionally, when the channel is active the Wii remote can be used to change the TV's volume and channel so that users can tune into their shows by way of the channel." I can't see that this is at all technically feasible. Can anyone confirm how it works? Tim (Xevious) (talk) 09:26, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

I believe there used to be a source for it...not sure where it went. Anyways, the Wii remote can be used in that way, but through a little trickery. The Wii remote itself does not send an IR signal to the TV, but rather the signal comes from the sensor bar and reflects off the room and the Wii remote to the TV. -Zomic13 (talk) 20:24, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
The sensor bar can't actually operate in this way though, I'm sure. The only thing carried through the cable is power, hence the existence of wireless sensor bars ... I'll have a look through the history for a source. Tim (Xevious) (talk) 09:57, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Just search for any source from the time when the channel was released. I don't have time at the moment, but I can definitely find one a little later today and add it. I may not have the exact details right, but I remember it working somehow like that. -Zomic13 (talk) 13:53, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Added a source from IGN. -Zomic13 (talk) 14:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! I wasn't disbelieving you by any stretch, I was just overly suspicious that something may have been translated wrongly ... Tim (Xevious) (talk) 16:26, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
No problem at all. It's good that we have people who are suspicious of what is uncited to make sure Wikipedia has the most accurate information possible. :) -Zomic13 (talk) 16:58, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Commodore 64

I own a Wii and I haven't seen any Commodore 64 games on the Wii Shop Channel. Does anyone have a source for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by JIMfoamy1 (talkcontribs) 13:57, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Currently the C64 games are listed as announced; none have yet been released for the VC.198.140.4.205 (talk) 12:11, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes they have, they are available on the European VC and have been for a few weeks. Tim (Xevious) (talk)

Retired Channels

The Metroid Prime 3: Demo Channel should be under a different category since it no longer works and it also can not be downloaded.AlexanderLD (talk) 20:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Some Games Require System Updates?

I take issue with the following paragraph:

Wii System Updates are required before playing some games, like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When loaded into the disc slot, an Icon on the disc channel that says "Wii System Update" appears. After selecting the channel, the Wii will automatically update. If these updates are not installed, the games will be rendered unplayable.

So in other words, people who don't have internet connections (i.e., to download the updates) are screwed? I personally think this may be anti-Nintendo sentiment. Thus I have added the "or" tag (I would have added the "disputed tag", but I couldn't find anything for a single paragraph; I dispute the factual accuracy of the paragraph a I just mentioned). I really would like a source for this. I'm sorry, but I find it hard to believe that some games--especially first party Nintendo titles--would require system updates in order to actually play them. Why would Nintendo force that on people? Anyway, I didn't remove the statement because even I think it might be possible for it to happen.

In any case, you can spare me the WP:AGF explanation, because this is just the sort of thing that the (with all due respect) anti-Nintendo, pro-Sony/Microsoft fanboys might do in order to discredit the system, which is hardly "good faith". Brittany Ka (talk) 19:00, 18 June 2008 (UTC)

^ These updates are downloaded from the disk itself, i'm pretty sure. So you dont need to be connected to the net. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.168.119.221 (talk) 10:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Not so fast

The Metroid Channel has expired! Whoever put it back has the puncuation of a 6 year old. We have already put it aside, and if you have any questions you need to make a note in the Discussion page first. AlexanderLD (talk) 12:22, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Start Screen Issues

There are currently issues with two of the start screens featured in the article. The first is that the Wii Shop Channel start screen image is a photograph of poor quality (especially when compared to the nice screenshots of all the other channels. The second is that the image for the Digicam Print Channel is not the start screen as labeled, but rather just the logo. It would be great to get an image of the actual start screen, but this picture is fine if a substitute cannot be found. I changed the caption for now. -Zomic13 (talk) 03:03, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Fixed the Wii Shop Channel issue. -Zomic13 (talk) 09:40, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Unofficial Channels

This is something that's been bugging me for a while. I don't see any mention of things like the Homebrew Channel which makes me think that this article is meant only for official channels. Yet, I don't see anything in the article nor the discussion that actually states anything like that. So is this only for official channels and content, or for anything defined as a Wii Menu channel? If the latter, that'd make the Homebrew channel acceptable since it gets fully integrated into the Wii Menu (unlike homebrew apps with a separate channel - they require homebrew data to still be on an SD card) Nintendo Maniac 64 (talk) 19:50, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Wii Speak

I made a change to the Wii Speak Channel section. It will be available on Dec. 5 in NA. I couldn't find an online source, but if you have the channel installed on your Wii and go to the channel it states that it will become avaiable on December 5. Neo Samus (talk) 16:21, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
