Fair use images

edit

I'm afraid the fair use images will have to go. Those images all fail criterion #1 (relevant bit highlighted): "No free equivalent. Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose." You could just go there and take the photo yourself, hence it's obviously outside the rules. As for the photos taken by drone, well, you could do that, too. Wikipedia's most famous example on how strict the rules are is Kim Jong-un, a head of state for whom Wikipedia had no photo for years. Of course, you couldn't just rock up in North Korea and shove a camera into the man's face. But the same issue still applied; you could theoretically create that photo and hence it's not fair use. Hi User:Schwede66, I agree with your sentiment regarding the picture of Wigram School and Skellerup and your point around could be created. I do however disagree regarding the two drone shots. NZ government policy around drone's operating over nationally significant road or rail corridors as I have outlined in my response to these two pictures. This is not possible to create again without breaking the law. Thus fair use policy should apply to these two pictures. StraightTalkNZ (talk) 00:45, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
