Worldwide
editI found rather interesting that despite it supposedly "has been practiced worldwide for centuries", this page exists only in the English version; not even in the basque one where it supposedly "is a traditional sport". --Lo'oris (talk) 07:46, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
Whittling vs carving
editThe page currently says:
“ | Occasionally the terms "whittling" and "carving" are used interchangeably, but they are different arts. Carving employs the use of chisels, gouges, with or without a mallet, while whittling involves only the use of a knife. | ” |
Is the line between the two so black-and-white? Many of my whittling books suggest using a V chisel to add detail such as hair. Often the same effect can be done with a knife only (a stop cut + one slice on either side), but the books note that it's easier to just use a V chisel. --Hirsutism (talk) 14:44, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
