I didn't start the article about weekend at the Asylum but in terms of corroborating the details I can confirm that in 2012 1109 steampunks attended as paying participants. (More also attended the free access areas.) Participants came from the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Australia, United States, Canada and South Africa. (There may have been other countries represented who did not make their presence known). NUmbers and information from the weekend at the asylum ticket records and paypal which obviously I cannot share but I am the account holder for these. John Naylor aka Tinker.

Sorry that was a typo - we are in the middle of running 2012.
The 1109 Figure was for 2011 (The third event) We expect to exceed this quite substantially this year since we have already got 900 paying participants and are five months away from the event.
