Chart Rating
editI have the book Joel Whitburn's Top Pop Singles 1955-2006 (2007-ISBN:0-89820-172-1 and ISBN: 978-0-89820-172-7) that lists every song that hit the "Pop" chart (1-100) during the years from 1956 to 2006.
"Way Over There" wasn't one of the Miracles earliest hits (at least not on the "Pop" chart - it may have been on the "R&B" chart at an early date, but I don't have the R&B reference book, so I can't say for sure).
"Way Over There" didn't hit the "Pop" chart until the record was reissued in 1962 when it entered the chart 9/15/62 and remained on it for 3 weeks. It got as high as #94 at that time, and I think perhaps the writer might be mistaken about it being one of the Miracles earliest hits.
The earliest hit, "Bad Girl," entered the "Pop" chart on 10/5/59, peaked at #93 and lasted only 2 weeks on the chart. I think the article should be changed to reflect the facts.
