Keeping track of dates

Everyone, please examine the references before making what you believe are corrections. Over 2013 and 2014, there were a number of parities, such as comparisons to Avatar and the presentation of concept art, which, as similar as they are, do not constitute the same event. So, if you think a correction is needed, check the reference, or else you may be adding in false information. For example, in 2013, Duncan Jones stated the movie is comparable to a mixture of Avatar and Game of Thrones, while in 2014, he stated that it has similarities to The Lord of the Rings. International Title

Synopsis

Garona is not Half-human - Half-orc

While that is true, and known in lore during the current timeframe of World of Warcraft, the movie is set during the first game, when Garona believed she was half-human. I've debated changing this around a few times, but I have to assume that the movie isn't going to show anything about Draenei. Despite the glance with the rest of the lore, this article should match how the movie presents things. -- ferret (talk) 16:16, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

The film does show draenai - they were used to power the portal. But within the movie, Garona is not presumed to be half Draenai 174.113.184.42 (talk) 14:13, 14 June 2016 (UTC)PG

Attempted to address this issue today. I have updated it to reflect that she is simply referred to as a half-breed in the film, with a note about her race as it appears in the EU. It's not perfect, but hopefully it's better. Scoundr3l (talk) 17:57, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Warcraft: The Beginning

In case there are any further attempts to move this page to Warcraft: The Beginning, let me make it clear that the standard name for the film is simply "Warcraft" and that "The Beginning" is simply an international subtitle. The lead includes the international name, but that's as far as it needs to go. It's along the same lines as Tom-Yum-Goong not being called "The Protector" and Fly Away Home not being called "Flying Wild". DARTHBOTTO _talk•cont 23:54, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Plot section

"Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel), leader of the humans, and Durotan (Toby Kebbell), leader of the orcs"

Literally neither of those things are true. Lothar is a the last of the royal Arathi bloodline and leader of the armies of Stormwind. The leader of the "humans" (of Stormwind) is his friend King Llane Wrynn. Durotan is the chieftain of the Frostwolf Clan of orcs, not of all orcs. The closest to that would be the warchief of the orcish horde, which at that time was Blackhand of the Blackrock Clan. --Ifrit (Talk) 01:39, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

What you see is a re-worded version of the plot that I ripped from the Warcraft website. Lothar is the one who leads the humans in their campaign against the orcish invaders, and Durotan is the orc who leads the renegade, "good" orcs who are trying to flee Draenor and make their home in Azeroth. In the context of the lore, yes, I know who the races' respective leaders are, but in the context of the film, Lothar and Durotan are the leaders of their respective races. We go with the latter because this is about the film, not the lore, and it's common knowledge that the film can differ in many variations from the lore. 4TheWynne^{(talk)(contribs)} 03:11, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Categorize the cast

I would like to categorize the cast into orcs and humans, listed left and right. Anyone with me? /Jonipoon (talk) 10:22, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

The cast was previously set out like that recently, but because there were a few characters that were uncategorised and it just looked messy, it was changed to reflect the casting order from the billing block.
