DECnet area are not countries!

The remark about DECnet area 48 being New Zealand does not make sense. Areas in DECnet IV are numbers from 0..63, nodes (computers) in each area being numbered 0..1023 (to my memory ;-) ). Sizable companies using DECnet had several areas, many companies across the world used Area 48.--Teeschmid

Phase IV DECnet addresses are 16 bit numbers. The high bits represented the area (1-63) and the low bits represented the node number (1-1023). Area 48 was the area assigned to New Zealand on Digital Equipment Corporation's internal DECnet which was known as the Easynet.--john.fuzzface.mcmahon (Preceding undated comment added 18:09, 1 December 2010 (UTC).)
