Talk:Von Loppenow

There is a page called "Lopianow". The page I created pertains to the von Loppenow family itself, Lopianow was their ancestral home, at the time called Loppnow or Loppenow. I am not sure whether properly speaking they should be merged. What is the general guideline regarding place names versus surnames? Is it appropriate to have a standalone page about the family apart from the town that carries the same name? The other thing being I obtained the family information from a book that was in German, which I am hoping is acceptable.
