Source Question edit

I have come across a source that I am looking through for additional information and citation on resting and post-surgical options, as I believe there can be some additional information and source material added to that section, however I am finding the need to verify the date/ material, and I am wondering if anyone is familiar with it or has additional information about it? Untitled edit

Since when has lisping, and articulation problem involving sibilants, been in any way similar to dysphonia, a quality of voice problem? (In technical or colloquial usage.) --BlackJar72 19:46, 8 June 2007 (UTC) The terminology "vocal cord" in the title should be replaced with the more accurate term "vocal fold" Alfraihs (talk) 02:40, 3 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Citations edit

Although a reference is provided, there are no in-text citations for this article. Some claims, e.g. that cysts cause dysphonia, could not be found on the referenced webpage. Additionally, there is close paraphrasing of the original source, particularly regarding mucus retention cysts. The link to "the original" in the existing reference leads to a "Page Not Found". --JaymieSLP (talk) 15:28, 25 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Missing Information edit

Much information on the topic of vocal-fold cysts is missing from this page. The article should make some note of incidence/prevalence. As well, information about causes and treatments could be elaborated. --JaymieSLP (talk) 15:28, 25 September 2016 (UTC) The information about initial treatment versus further steps needs to be referenced and flushed out. Adding Information edit

Our plan as a team for the vocal-fold cyst article is to add sections for signs and symptoms, causes, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and prognosis. I will be responsible for adding information regarding the signs and symptoms associated with vocal-fold cysts.. I will look in textbooks, and academic journals for reliable and appropriate sources for the informationMel-SLP (talk) 00:47, 27 September 2016 (UTC) Our team will elaborate upon the basic information provided with relevant, trustworthy medical sources and edit existing information for quality and accuracy. I will be mainly responsible for adding information pertaining to diagnosis and prognosis of vocal fold cysts. We will also reorganize the page so that the information is easy to read and in a logical sequence. SLPJaslyn (talk) 18:31, 28 September 2016 (UTC) I will be mainly responsible for creating an informative section on treatment of vocal fold cysts. Based on a brief review of the literature, I intend to address both surgical and speech-language therapy options. As previously mentioned by my classmates, we intend to add to this article information that is relevant, informative, and from reliable sources. Together, we will draft a cohesive introduction section for this article. --JaymieSLP (talk) 01:06, 29 September 2016 (UTC) My contribution to this page will be providing information on the causes and prevention of vocal fold cysts. The information I plan on adding will come from reliable sources including, textbooks and peer-reviewed academic journal articles. Paige22cameron (talk) 20:24, 1 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Treatment edit

I think it would be helpful to reorganize and add information in this segment (preventative, pre and post surgical intervention from a Speech-Language Pathology perspective) and mentioning the effectiveness of voice therapy in each stage. Also addressing the fact that the size of the cyst, in most cases, will not reduce with voice therapy alone. Voice perception should also be mentioned here as it is taken into consideration during therapy. Alfraihs (talk) 19:45, 4 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Histology edit

It would be more comprehensive if a histology portion is added to the article.Alfraihs (talk) 04:06, 7 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Introduction/Differentiating Types of Vocal Fold Cysts Section edit

Hello! I would like to add a section after the introduction section which states and differentiates the two types of vocal fold cysts (in the introduction it is made clear that there are two types of cysts- subepithelial and ligament, but then the diagnosis section it refers to them as mucosal retention and epidermoid cysts). I believe it is important to clearly identify and differentiate between the two early on in the article. I plan to use these sources: Kirs29 (talk) 14:45, 18 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Epidemiology edit

Hello, I would like to add an epidemiology section in order to discuss the prevalence and distribution of vocal fold cysts, and any patterns that have emerged in the research, as I don't see this information covered elsewhere in the article. HilAreCee (talk) 14:48, 13 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Diagnosis edit

Hello, I intend to edit the diagnosis section, so that it begins with the information stating the four ways a diagnosis can be made. I would like to edit and re-word the differentiation of the two types of cysts, so that it doe not repeat information addressed in the previous sections, and is easier to follow. I intend to use these sources:[1] [2]HilAreCee (talk) 14:21, 27 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
