Vim (text editor) is the most notable out of all the disambiguated items edit

Therefore, I feel that the move of this page MUST be done, so that search for 'vim' or 'VIM' or 'Vim' or 'vIm' or etc. on Wikimedia-search would lead to Vim (text editor) and AT THE TOP of Vim (text editor) article the disambig. thing is displayed. Notability was checked by ('illegally') google search "vim", only 3rd or 4th link was to some (sponsored?) place associated with Adidas, Nike (??); all other found links were Vim (text editor) related. As Vim is as famous in certain circles as Notepad and Emacs, so should Vim out of respect be redirected on Wikipedia directly to the correct (according to famousness) page.

Agree with User:George100 that Vim should be the basic disambiguation page. The key here is "Vim (editor) is famous in certain circles" only, as User:Kazkaskazkasako says. Google notability parameter would be inappropriate here as we're comparing a free software having a large community and a large online presence vs. commercial cleaning agents and airlines. Going by Special:WhatLinksHere, VIM Airlines has the highest, i.e., between 100 and 150 links to it in the article namespace. The text editor and the cleaning agent are comparable, i.e., between 50 and 100 links. Jay (talk) 11:16, 5 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I've redirected Vim to Vim (disambiguation). --George100 (talk) 21:33, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes, there are many usages for "vim" or "VIM" but for "Vim" there are only 2 usages. One of them is the cleaning product (?!) and the other is a FLOSS program, one of the market leaders in text editors. If you don't know what a high-end text editor is, look for "text editor" and "Editor war". The article about Vim (cleaning product) is shorter, so it's a guess that this product is sold only in one part of the world, therefore, regional bias. Vim (text editor) is available for free worldwide, so, I guess, Vim (text editor) is a much better known 'product'. Therefore, I reverse your edits. BTW, if you're from Lever Brothers company, you should think twice before editing this article...

I'm convinced with the uppercase vs. lowercase argument. Jay (talk) 19:46, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
"if you're from Lever Brothers company" - that's a bizarre accusation, where did you come up with it?. --George100 (talk) 23:43, 18 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
I also very much think there are multiple common definitions, and that this should point to the disambig page. The most common is certainly "with energy and enthusiasm," not a concept that deserves an article, but one that should be mentioned on the disambig page. It is difficult to find the common usage of a term online when one is a tech subject and the others are not. I did a search of the ProQuest newspaper database, and of the possible targets the cleaning product is the one most mentioned. - SimonP (talk) 01:32, 6 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
On the other hand, DuckDuckGo (a web search engine that, unlike google, returns the same results for everyone) places Vim (text editor) higher than the cleaning product. Here is the query.

Besides, I wasn't aware of the very existence of Vim (cleaning product) until If, when coming back to this page in at least one month:

  1. No one replied
  2. The result is still the same on DuckDuckGo

I will put Vim in first position :) Cordially, Je ne détiens pas la vérité universelle (talk) 10:21, 27 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Well... when coming back to this page, i feel like discussing whether my lovely editor should be on top of the list or not is really stupid. The above mention doesn't hold anymore --Je ne détiens pas la vérité universelle (talk) 09:27, 13 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
