The US supplied "nerve gas" grenades during WW II?

Where did that absurd notion come from? The US and its didn't even have "nerve gas" at the time! And they certainly wouldn't have been passing any out to the police force of an occupied backwater. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.4.252.77 (talk) 06:17, 27 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

This was fixed here . People please discuss changes before making them or let people that report issues know that they have been fixed! Einsiol (talk) 18:42, 8 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Good article, especially considering its relative obscurity.

Number of officers edit

The lead says "The Viking squad has about 48 officers." but the infobox says "size : 80". Is one of these an error, or do they refer to different things? Thanks. -- Quiddity (talk) 17:19, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

This seems to have been fixed, but it would have been nice if someone had let people know since this was reported here Einsiol (talk) 18:40, 8 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Icelandic name of the unit. edit

In the article appears the Icelandic name of the unit, which is said to be Sérsveit ríkislögreglustjórans. But in the Icelandic article the name of the unit is said to be Sérsveit ríkislögreglustjóra, without the letters "ns"[1].

I'm almost absolutely sure that the Icelandic wiki is incorrect. The without ns version is more natural Icelandic, but the national commissioner is called Ríkislögreglustjórinn, not Ríkislögreglustjóri, (which also would be a bit more normal) and thus the Viking squad is Sérsveit ríkislögreglustjórans. This is at least the official name, the Icelandic wiki name could also be intrepeted as a descriptive name, not an official one. 130.208.165.5 (talk) 09:37, 12 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
You can say it both ways, dosent really matter, the other just has a suffixed definite article Einsiol (talk) 18:35, 8 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Not up to date edit

The article says that the Icelandic police force will expand it from 50 to 55 by 2010. This is obviously not up to date. Could someone fix this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dbreagornks (talkcontribs) 08:38, 18 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Article title edit

Hi Þjarkur you changed the article title from Víkingasveitin to Icelandic special forces back in January 2019. The common name (WP:COMMONNAME) in English seems to be Viking Squad [2],[3], [4], [5]. The police even use Viking Squad [6]. Special forces units are military units. The Viking Squad would be considered to be a police tactical unit, the police describe it as a "Special Weapons and Tactics Team" [7] and it is part of the ATLAS Network [8].--Melbguy05 (talk) 04:23, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • A move to Viking Squad sounds good to me, or whatever else you propose. I believe I took the name "special forces" from this BBC article, but I wasn't particularly well acquainted with the WP:COMMONNAME policy back then. – Thjarkur (talk) 09:26, 4 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Squads edit

In the article it is stated that the unit has 5 squads from Alpha to Echo but there is no source. From articles I have read there seem to be 5 squads, with their specialties being rappeling and rescue, breachers, snipers, divers and bomb disposal. The article doesn't say which squad is Alpha, Bravo etc. except that the divers are the Delta squad. This is the article in Icelandic if anyone is interested in reading it. Does anyone have any sources for the squads or proposals on how it should be changed? Yungkleina (talk) 12:37, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
