Talk:Vijaya (bow)

Latest comment: 4 years ago by Karna DV in topic Not a good article

Please refer Purana for writing about a purana character! The Bow name of Karna was not VIJAYA!! There was "VAIJAYANTHI" shakthi with Karna. Which was an undefeatable power given by Lord Indra (father of Arjuna) as a boon/reward for his 'Daana Dharma' when he donated his 'kavach kundala'.

  Vijayam is the name of Shiva's Trident, who is the creator of DHANURVEDA. This Vijayam is the source of all weapons.From which the first bow of the world, PINAAKAM evolved.

Shiv gave only TRAYAMBAKAM,Kodandam named bows to ParashuRam.

THE NAME OF THE KARNA'S BOW IS -KAALAPRUSHTA (A black coloured powerful bow) which was gifted by Parashuram. {Refer SRIMAD-BHAGAVATHAM written by Veda Vyasa}

Dear Sir,

"Mahabharata" by Ved Vyas clearly mentions that the bow of Karna was called Vijaya. During Mahabharata war, when Karna was describing his own prowess as well as comparing his own strengths to that of Arjuna, Karna clearly quotes that the name of his Bow is Vijaya. The Mahabharata translated versions of K.M.Ganguly , BORI , Kaliprasanna Ghosh(First Bengali Translation of Ved Vyas Mahabharata presided over by Iswarchandra Vidyasagar himself) etc . all mentions this incidence during kurukshetra war where Karna mentions that he owns the divine Vijaya Bow.

VIJAYA BOW - THE BOW OF LORD SIVA edit

I am surprised to see this article vandalised and filled up with entirely with wrong and foolish information.When I created this page i added the information that it was the bow of siva, later gifted to Indra and then to Parasurama.

The present article (now) describe it as the bow of Indra and created for Indra.Totally wrong info.The bow which is describe here is a bow gifted to DRONA by Lord Indra and later Drona gifted this bow to one of his student (dont know his name, but defenitly not Karna!!)

I am replacing all the wrong contents with correct data and if any have a counter opinion LETS TALK!! Arjunkrishna90 (talk) 09:53, 3 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

You are correct that it is Shiva's bow.

But your edits also are somewhat vandalizing the article. Terrible, terrible grammar. You include a long, unnecessary quote (the article is about Vijaya. NOT Karna). Pinkfloyd11 (talk) 02:12, 15 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not a good article edit

This article is having lot of grammar mistakes. It's very clear that someone edited this article in a hurry manner so as to let many people read his/her view. Moreover lot of boasting is done with regard to a bow. I don't believe a bow can make a man invincible. It's all the man's potential which makes him great. Ok. Let Vijaya bow make man invincible. Then in such a case, a small kid who doesn't know archery also becomes invincible. It's not correct that Vijaya bow makes man invincible because Lord Parashurama was defeated by Bhishma even when he had Vijaya bow in his hands. It's also mentioned that ordinary people can't lift the bow. It's not "Shiva dhanush/Pinakin" so that other people can't lift. So I conclude that this article is not upto the mark. Lot of corrections have to be made regarding grammar & even content. Karna DV (talk) 15:24, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Karna DV (talk) 15:19, 13 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
