This article needs review:

  1. Please provide a citation for the 2006 legislation.
  2. It was my understanding that views have always been a factor in determining the value of a property. What does it mean to say that certain towns have instituted such a thing only in 2003? -- Ken Gallager 14:14, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I will admit that I am not extremely knowledgable on this subject, however I do know that the tax has been in certain counties since 2003, and that the legislature is proposing a statewide tax. I will look for citation. Sloverlord 23:41, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ken: It is barely five years after your request! and I have found a citation for you. The state legislature web site makes it easy to find the text and status even of legislation from a prior session; and the Assessors' Manual is a good read about principles by which to make a revaluation systematic and to show the voters you have done so.
But moreover, as the "view tax" bill never even passed one house of the legislature, I have turned around the start of this article. The primary remaining meaning of "view tax" in New Hampshire is to disparage subjective assessments of one's own property. Separately, I have removed from the article the discussion of the "controversy" of the view tax--there was a paragraph that basically only said that where you stand on the view tax correlates with where you stand on taxation in general--and all the numerical examples. All it needed was clear explanations of the allegedly unfair trends. Minus the quotation marks, which, as Strunk & White put it, suggested that the author alone was privy to some inside joke. Checked. The link for the text of the bill works fine for me, and is the URL of the page the search form produces. Either lowercase or capitals in "hb0245" produces the bill text. The link for the bill's status has been changed and I've fixed it. Spike-from-NH (talk) 12:31, 21 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
