Grandma Van Houten edit

Doesn't Luann state she's from Shelbyville, indicating her parents are from there also?

Why the capital V? It's not conventional usage.

Actually Dutch names beginning with van are always written with a small 'v' while Belgian names begining with Van are written with a capital 'V' except if the family is noble. In such case, it is a small 'v' (same thing with names beginning with 'De').

By the way I wonder why the trivia section I added has been removed... Julien Tuerlinckx 14:31, 22 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

How is their nose a 'toucan nose'? It's big and bulbous.

How is their hair "cobalt"?--Juffy 19:07, 25 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

cobalt blue is the correct link; I fixed the article. Owen× 19:11, 25 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Pyro edit

Is Pyro important enough to have his own section in this article? He isn't (as I see it) a part of the Van Houten family. --Fred Bradstadt 03:24, 4 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

No. Pyro isn't, he should just be mentioned in passing in Luann's section of the article. 82.39.52.202 18:01, 16 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
 --> I think he is.

Not a meme? edit

Milhouse is not a meme. This should be mentioned.

First appearance edit

Time for me to play Comic Book Guy: Milhouse actually appeared in a November 1989 Butterfinger commercial, which would have preceded Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire. See [1]. Zagalejo 03:53, 5 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Info box edit

--> What the hell happened to the info boxes Kirk and LUann used to have? Why did they get rid of them? I want some answers! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.133.107 (talk) 03:15, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

--> I would appreciate an answer please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.133.107 (talk) 03:20, 13 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

--> Answer me! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.12.133.107 (talk) 23:33, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

We don't use infoboxes on pages where more than one character are listed, just individual pages. -- Scorpion0422 23:59, 15 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

--> BUt they used to have seperate pages and seperate info boxes what happened? They were merged. -- Scorpion0422 20:43, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Danish edit

Should be updated with the Danish Van Houten from the relatively recent episode... AnonMoos (talk) 18:48, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I added him. 76.189.126.249 (talk) 19:36, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. AnonMoos (talk) 03:30, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I added the note that Norbert must be a relative of Luann, which would imply that her maiden name is Van Houten, the same as her married name. I thought this was a significant bit of information, but my edits were reverted. At the risk of starting a reversion war, I'm going to put it back in until someone can explain why it should be taken out. ShawnVW (talk) 17:19, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I'm missing something, but what makes you think he's Luann's relative? faithless (speak) 21:46, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wait, I think I understand where you're coming from; since he fights with Kirk at the end of the episode? Makes sense, but it's still a little WP:OR-ish in my opinion. faithless (speak) 21:49, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for seeing it from my side. Basically, Kirk calls Norbert a "wimpy Dane", who then calls him a "Dutchman", as if that were insult enough. If they're not of the same national origin, I doubt that they're blood relatives, which means he must be related to Luanne. I realize that's more than a one-step line of reasoning, and I don't know what WP:OR means, but it think its strong enough that I can add it to the article using qualifiers like "evidently". —Preceding unsigned comment added by ShawnVW (talkcontribs) 06:29, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree with your reasoning; I won't remove it again. :) faithless (speak) 07:35, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, sir. ShawnVW (talk) 08:53, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Father-in-law at Cracker Factory edit

Is certain that his wife's father works at the Cracker Factory. All Luann said was that his father-in-law set him up with a sweet job at the cracker factory? Quite possible that his father-in-law has a cousin, army buddy, golf partner, etc... who ran the cracker factory and used his connections to get his son-in-law the job? van Houten edit

I have heard that name of the family is an allusion to Leslie van Houten - can somebody confirm or deny this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.96.74.70 (talk) 15:41, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

lulu van houten was part of the manson family, i believe kirk has called luann "lulu" a number of times —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.6.250.86 (talk) 06:42, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply
