Sanskrit IPA pronunciation

edit

There is an IPA symbol in the pronunciation which is not found in the linked Sanskrit IPA Help page. It looks like an upside down, lower case "a", which I'm guessing is equivalent to a schwa sound. It doesn't seem helpful to include this symbol in the pronunciation if it can't be found in the Sanskrit IPA page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.151.5 (talk) 23:44, 5 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

I was surprised to see citation links in the lede. That’s always been a point of correction in any GA Review for me. Morganfitzp (talk) 20:49, 11 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Editors, not always novices, have from time to time challenged uncited statements in the lead, it's a constant hassle. At times it's got so bad I've thought of calling for the policy to be revised; currently it permits citations in the lead when challenges are current or likely. I've moved the refs out, let's see what happens. Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:06, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Etymology

edit

This section doesn’t currently go into the actual word roots of vira + bhadra + asana as one might expect from a section called marked etymology. Morganfitzp (talk) 20:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Virabhadra is a name. You might consider the origin of the name itself significant, but unless a scholar does the same, that's WP:OR. If you were giving the etymology of Compton Durville, for instance, you'd rightly explain that the Durville family lent its name to the hamlet; you'd not want to analyse "Durville" in further detail. Same here. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:24, 12 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
