Talk:Urban agriculture in West Oakland/Archive 1

Latest comment: 2 years ago by Kalinatodorov

Title I'd like to include some information about broader Bay Area urban agriculture initiatives in this article (such as the Gill Tract in Albany, among many other examples). I believe changing the title to something broader like "Urban agriculture in the Bay Area" could be beneficial, as West Oakland is a very niche area. Thoughts or suggestions on this change? A section could also be made for West Oakland in particular to keep the specificity of the region's history. This would open doors for the inclusion of many more relevant area examples. --Kalinatodorov (talk) 02:20, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

Rematriation vs. Repatriation? I added some information about the Gill Tract and briefly included its vision for the rematriation of the land. There is no article on this term, but there is one for Repatriation. I know these two concepts are similar but not congruent, but I'm not sure how to adequately link/describe rematriation. For now, I have "rematriation (see: repatriation)" in the text. If anyone has suggestions for how to better write this I'd love to hear.--Kalinatodorov (talk) 03:32, 4 December 2021 (UTC)

To briefly respond to the title change idea, wikipedia has a Gill Tract article, and overlapping content between articles should be limited. Someone could create a new article Urban agriculture in the Bay Area that summarizes, but this article should stay about West Oakland as there is enough WP:RS sourcing that specifically covers this location to establish WP:N.Dialectric (talk) 03:45, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
I agree that overlapping content about the Gill Tract should be avoided. About article specificity, it discusses Berkeley and East Oakland, so it already seems to stray away from information about West Oakland. Perhaps this article could be broadened to Urban agriculture in the East Bay instead? --Kalinatodorov (talk) 05:57, 4 December 2021 (UTC)
