Express Pass vs. Universal Express Pass edit

I was just wondering why this article was named Express Pass and not Universal Express Pass. The official website seems to refer to them as Universal Express Pass much more than just Express Pass. Themeparkgc  Talk  23:00, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

I apologize for that. You are correct. I'll move the article and change the first line. However, can we still reference it as "express pass" without universal or should I correct that as well? ihafez talk 15:14, 26 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merge paid priority queue implementations in theme parks into one article? edit

Just an idea: the English Wikipedia has multiple articles about paid priority systems in theme parks, referring to individual implementations by specific parks. I think it would be better to merge them into one article, something like the Snelpas (fast pass, in general) article in the Dutch Wikipedia.

It should refer to any kind of ride and queue management, in which visitors can access rides faster and make more rides, by paying an additional charge, which usually works at the expense of regular visitors ("legalized queue jumping"). Topic should be the system itself, not names for specific tickets or "passes", which entitle visitors to use the priority access. Other implementations, such as virtual queue devices, which don't require visitors to wait in a physical queue, and allow shorter wait times if a premium is paid, should also be subject. Is there any good name for it?

As a differentiation, mere scheduling systems, which are available to every visitor equally and do not allow more rides by additional payments, should not be subject, such as Disney's Fastpass in it's classic version (some Disney parks, such as Paris, also added paid priority). The Dutch article also lists some kinds of systems, which are not paid priority, and has a few mistakes (Europa-Park only has paid priority for special events and additional attractions, such as Virtual Reality rides, but not in regular operations).

I think a general article covering the topic from a broad perspective would be fine and would actually be helpful for lesser-known fast pass systems at smaller amusement parks. However, I don't think we need to merge content from the Cedar Fair, Six Flags, or Universal articles. There's enough coverage at each to justify forking them into their own dedicated articles. A brief overview can be covered in the new, general overview article, but the main articles (which often list current rides that participate) should be retained as they exist today. --GoneIn60 (talk) 03:21, 6 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Split up the Express Pass descriptions above the lists? edit

Although the idea of Universal Express is the same at all 4 resorts, there are differences and quirks. Like Orlando it coming for free if you stay at some of the hotels and Japan having Express Pass Tiers and bundles. Should those extra little quirks and descriptions be under the appropriate resorts headers? (I am happy to write this in I just don't want to do something that isn't appropriate for wikipedia.) Absolutely. I think each section with ride lists should contain a brief description covering the "differences and quirks". That's the perfect place to discuss them. Since this isn't a stand-alone list, there should be more prose in each section. --GoneIn60 (talk) 03:24, 6 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
