Talk:U.S. Route 60 in Virginia

Old east end

edit

Until 1961, US 60 continued south for 0.763 miles from the south end of the Rudee Inlet bridge.[1] I believe this would take it to the north edge of Camp Pendleton, just south of Croatan Road. This was added to the state highway system in 1928 as part of State Route 501;[2] it soon became part of a State Route 12 extension, and carried US 60 by the 1933 renumbering - possibly as early as 1928.

Note that VDOT still considers US 60 to use 17th Street from Pacific Avenue to Atlantic Avenue, ending at Atlantic Avenue and 5th Street.[3]
