US 20 through Public Square edit

User:TenPoundHammer among others: It's easy to misinterpret US 20's routing in Public Square. US 20 leaves Superior Av./US 6/US 42/SR 3 and follows West Roadway and South Roadway to Euclid Avenue. What's confusing is that this routing is one way counterclockwise but ODOT does not provide a directional alternate routing for 20 westbound as it does for other routes when their sets of streets vary. I know that this has been the case for as long as ODOT has been putting their respective documents online; I just checked the DESTAPE file and it's still this way (also looking at the US 6 entry helps to clarify). I know that I've seen descriptions/junction lists for other various routes which don't pick up on this nuance but mentioning it on the respective route article talk page seems to be the most efficient way to address it. This situation, in addition to making intersection mileage details inaccurate, also means that 20 misses the 422 et al. terminus (the Ontario/Superior intersection), and that 20 and 322 do not meet at all downtown (322 and the 42/3 pair begin at the Superior/East Roadway intersection and run in opposite directions along Superior), so these conditions or lack thereof need to be addressed as well. Maybe they'll fix this soon when one or both roads within the square close permanently, but for now this quirk still exists. It's possible that AASHTO doesn't agree with this, but since their log only notes whole miles, the half-block difference would be absorbed in rounding, so that's inconclusive. I would be WP:BOLD in editing but that's a lot of intricate changes so I'll leave this to the article creator or anyone else who's more comfortable with tables than I am (I think I got the SR 3 article corrected OK but it drove me up the wall to do it so I defer this time). @Mapsax: I had a devil of a time decoding Public Square myself since signage is so sparse and Google Maps didn't seem to be agreeing with the signage. I wouldn't mind if you tried fixing it. Ten Pound Hammer(What did I screw up now?) 17:39, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I was reluctant to link to this, but there's a map on the website that I maintain (second graphic, fair use). Ignore the shields on the map, just note the text. The drawn-in arrow traces the path of US 20 westbound and actually is the opposite of the traffic flow most of the way. Rotating the map 45 degrees clockwise mentally will help make sense of "West/South/East Roadway" (e.g. South Roadway is parallel to Superior). Mapsax (talk) 18:08, 26 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
[followup] OK, I think we're good. (Silly me, I didn't even notice that there weren't mileages listed yet) Mapsax (talk) 14:24, 27 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
