Will review in the next few days. SounderBruce 04:26, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
Lead edit
- "October 27, 1980": double space and a missing comma after 1980, per MOS:YEAR.
- The lead could be split into two paragraphs, since it's rather long.
- "Homes" vs "houses", need to choose one or the other
- I don't see the problem, given they have the same meaning.
- "11v provinces"
Meteorological history edit
- "upgraded [...] into": Should it be "to"?
- "equal to low-end Category 2 status": "equivalent to a low-end Category 2 [storm]"
- "(PAGASA) also monitored the storm" on November 1...is "began [monitoring]" missing here?
- Hurricane Hunter "fix": could a different term be used?
- Lots of repeated use of "Betty"; some substitutions would be welcome.
Preparations and impact edit
- The first two sentences could be merged together.
- Is it known which airports were most affected by the Philippines Airline closure?
- "along low-lying suburbs": shouldn't it be "in"?
- "Even though" → "Although"
- "30,000 [people left] homeless"?
- Inflation adjustments are needed for the figures listed in this section. Would prefer the local currency being used as well.
- Who provided the C-47 plane and relief goods?
- Who declared these provinces as a disaster area?
- 11 and 113 are better rendered as numerals, per WP:NUMNOTES.
References edit
- Links missing from some refs, including first mention of JMA, Associated Press, NDCC, and US AID.
- Ref 9: Capitalization, link, and {{open access}} needed for Newspapers.com
That's all for now. On hold until these issues are resolved. SounderBruce 02:22, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
