non-mathematical sense of linear?

The tool's axes of movement may be literally a straight line, or they may be along some set of curves or angles, but they are essentially linear (in the non mathematical sense).

Definition

Not convinced that this definition is entirely clear. Perhaps the focus should first be on turning as the process which removes material from a workpiece as it rotates on a lathe? Derek J Moore (talk) 15:13, 20 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
