Page name
editHarrison's official webpage, and the sources refer to is as A Transatlantic Tunnel, Hurrah! The publication history indicates that was its title when first published - in magazine form. It was renamed "Tunnel Through the Deeps" for its first book publications. So which title should we use ? -- Beardo 00:16, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Possible Incorrect Title
editI'd like to echo the preceding user's comments. I rather suspect that there's a matter of principle involved here: I'm under the impression that the work was first publishing in book form in Europe under the title "A Transatlantic Tunnel, Hurrah!", and that the alternative title was used for US publication. Given the author's webpage and the publication history, it seems inappropriate to use the US title. (The obvious parallel, I suppose, is "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", which I understand was sold in the US as "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone", but whose Wikipedia entry uses the original title.) - The first book publications were in the U.S. and Canada, both under the current title. It is customary to title an article about a book which was also serialized in magazine format under the initial book publication title, rather than the title which the serialized magazine version bore, since the book version usually has much greater permanent impact. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:48, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that the book was published in the UK before it was published in North America, but I'll take your word for it. RomanSpa (talk) 23:44, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Do we have any sources for the actual publication date ? Again - http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?958 shows the US title as a variant, with both published in 1972. -- Beardo (talk) 22:21, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
