Proposed Page Merge with Non-English page
editThere appears to be a page that does not exist in English that this article could be merged with. I discovered the similar article on Spanish Wikipedia. Both articles are about Trumpetfish but as it is a monogeneric family, this article is actually about the genus, Aulostomus, while the other article (which does not exist in English Wikipedia) is about the family, Aulostomidae. Four languages, Russian, Chinese, Polish, and Dutch have articles for both the genus and the family while all other pages only exist in one article or the other. - I am not sure what you are proposing here, but this is the English Wikipedia, and our naming convention at Wikipedia:Naming conventions (fauna)#Monotypic taxa specificately states:
A monotypic taxon is a taxonomic group which only contains a single subgroup (e.g., a genus with only one known species, even a subphylum with one family with one genus). In such a case, the ranks with identical member organisms should not be separated into different articles, and the article (if there is no common name) should go under the scientific name of lowest rank, but no lower than the monotypic genus. Redirects should be created from the other ranks to the actual article.
