Varieties of Tricholoma edit

Tiger Tricholoma is referenced in the "poisonous mushrooms" page of Wikipedia but is not linked with its own page. I have found references online to the Tiger Tricholoma giving it the taxonomic names "Tricholoma Pardinum" and "Tricholoma Pardalotum," both. Http://www.mushroomexpert.com/tricholoma.html lists other varieties of Tricholoma mushrooms including T. Albolanaripes, T. Cingulatum, T. Caligatum, T. Magnivelare, T. Aurantium, T. Viscidipes, T. Vernicatum, T. Venenatum, T. Subresplendens, T. Columbetta, T. Serratifolium, T. Suphurescens, T. Acerbum, T. Album, T. Odorum, T. Sulphureum, T. Palustre, T. Sejunctum, T. Fumosoluteum, T. Subluteum, T. Manzanitae, T. Orirubens, T. Ustale, T. Saponaceum, Bitter Gray Tricholoma, T. Acre, T. Pullum, T. Venenatum, T. Populinum, T. Fulvum, T. Terriferum, T. Transmutans, T. Dryophilum, T. Olivaceobrunneum, T. Subaureum, and (WOW that's a long list) many others. I can't verify the completeness of the list, only the lack of information on Wikipedia about the Tricholoma genus. I'm particularly interested in what the Tiger Tricholoma AKA Tigertop AKA T. Pardinum AKA T. Pardalotum contains that is poisonous to humans. Eddietoran 05:43, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Research has revealed the T. equestre to be poisonous. Since it's widely considered edible, I put it in the examples list for the poisonous tricholoma-species for the sake of poisonous-fungi-awareness. T. equestre also now has it's own article, so I've added a couple of links. -- Toremag 18:14, 2. October 2006

Tricholoma genus edit

Given Pine mushroom is not a recognised name for the group - the genus Tricholoma should be the name of the page. thoughts? Cas Liber 22:23, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I believe that Pine mushroom just means Tricholoma magnivelare (perhaps with some other matsutake-like species). But Tricholoma was redirected to this page, which caused the confusion. We need a separate Tricholoma page for the genus as a whole. Strobilomyces 22:39, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Righty-ho then. There is a way of transposing the whole page plus history to Tricholoma, which I haven't done as yet. And then Pine mushroom should redirect to Tricholoma magnivelare or be a short article on the cluster of related species. (gotta run to a family do....) cheers Cas Liber 23:08, 29 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Done! (I feel so proud I learnt a new thing today....) Cas Liber 20:27, 30 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
