The Real Story of Saturday Night Fever Not Fiction. The truth be known Nick was a witness to the real events behind the story he produced back in the day. The truth was he was hanging with the owners of Studio 54 in a club they owned in New Hampshire. Steve Rubel was working the door of his new club when a young blond haired male entered the club. It happened that the young guy had come two previous Saturdays before and was under age and sneaking in the club. Being the third Saturday night in a row the young man showed up he was noticed by Steve Rubel as the kid wanted, and Rubel looked at the kid and said "Your back here again!" the under age youngster who being put on the spot nervously exclaimed, "Saturday night fever!". Steve with a big smile now on his face repeated the phrase "Saturday night fever!", and the kid explained wild eyed "You know how it is Saturday night fever!... I'm here to dance with the girls and have a good time, I'm here to dance!". Nick upon hearing this expression laughed, shook his head and then introduced himself to the young man. The kid kept showing up to the club and danced with all the women creating a sensation if you will due to his young nature, handsome features and wild dance style. Soon The kid was offered a chance to play himself in the movie "Saturday Night Fever" however he turned down the opportunity and became happy just to be the inspiration. The kid was able to meet many famous individuals such as the Bee Gee;s they wrote a song about the kid called "Staying Alive" based on Barry Gibb's conversation with the kid who was eighteen at the time. Steve Rubel sent Barry over to talk to the kid as he sat down at the bar, just then four beautiful women came in and sat down at a table across the room. Barry Gibb sat next to the kid and said "Steve Rubel said I should come talk to you mate" and the kid being young and arrogant turned to Barry and said " Hey man I ain't got time to talk to you..." "...instead of talking why don't you help me dance with those girls over there...". Barry continued to ask questions and explained to the kid his situation of being a musician in America with his brothers whom were in the club that night as well. When Barry Gibb asked the kid "What are you going to do with your life?" the kid replied "Stay alive I'm staying alive I must be dancing...". The kid was introduced by Steve Rubel to infamous people from New York and danced with the stars. The face of the kid was used by Nick on one of his story boards, he took a picture of the kid as he left the club with the kids permission. So in fact as Nick had originally stated the story is based on real factual events, I should know I was that kid who stayed alive to disco dance.
