aricle seems written by someone very knowlegeable about topic for reader already very knowledgeable about topic edit

hello,

"The second triathlon was identical to the first in distance," second on the 2000 games or at the 2004 games?

"1.5 kilometre swim, 40 kilometre cycle, and a 10 kilometre run" help your non-metric reader and put feet/mileage equivalents in parentheses. many other olympic (and non-olympic) wiki articles provide alternate measurements. is there is wiki style/protocol on this?

"Nine nations have split the eighteen medals awarded in the triathlon events." over life of sport at olympics?

make "nations" table sortable?

"records" even if data not presently availble for 2004, at least provision for it in table. as of now, one suspects there was no triathlon in 2004 (which may well be...can't tell from current text/table).

1904 Olympics triathlons? edit

The 1904 Summer Olympics lists two triathlons, an athletics triathlon and a gymnastics triathlon, there should be a note about it here. See Gymnastics at the 1904 Summer Olympics - Men's triathlon and Athletics at the 1904 Summer Olympics - Men's triathlon. 70.51.11.210 (talk) 05:52, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: 1904 Olympic triathlon? edit

Although the events share names (its not as surprising as it may seam: Triathlon can be used as a generic term for "three contest") they have nothing in common beyond that. Also, the IOC list the events under Gymnastic and Athletic, so they have nothing to do whit the Triathlons referred to in this article. If we do add a mention about the triathlons from the 1904 games, we need to clearly mention that they have only the name in common whit the current triathlon.Fox334 (talk) 22:38, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Contested? edit

The article's first sentence states that triathlon has been "contested" since its debut in the 2000 Olympics. According to my understanding of the word "contested" this means that there is a controversy over triathlon as an Olympic event. Is that really the intended meaning? (I would expect to find something about the controversy in the article in that case.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.34.179.135 (talk) 17:21, 1 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Contested can be used interchangably with competed, as the athletes are taking part in a contest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.221.170 (talk) 16:27, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
